Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Natural Circulation Cooldown (GL 81-21)
In response to your letter of July 20, 1983, CPUN plans to perform an analytical evaluation of natural circulation cooldown without formation of voids in the upper head using the RETRAN computer code. A detailed heat conductor nodalization of the upper head portion of tne reactor vessel has already been developed and is being incorporated in a TMI-1 primary system model.
The analysis will be completed in December, 1983 and upon completion GPUN will submit the following information requested by you:
1.
A detailed description of the GPUN natural circulation cooldown procedure and its basis, and 2.
an analysis of natural circulation cooldown without upper head voiding and prevention of voiding at the hot leg elevation.
