DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Specific Exemptionfrom 10CFR50, Appendix J Type A Periodic Schedule Reauirements for Unit II Attached is a request for specific exemption and a request for change to the Technical Specifications, Appendix A of the Operating Licenses, for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. This request is submitted in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50, Section 50.12 and Section 50.90.
The requested exemption and amendment will grant temporary relief from the requirements of 10CFR50, Appendix J, Section III, D, 1(a) which requires Prairie Island Unit II to perform a Type A test in the May 1995 refueling outage. The Unit II Type A test will be postponed until the next scheduled refueling outage.
Exhibit A contains a description of the specific exemption, proposed changes, l
l the reasons for requesting the changes, and the supporting safety evaluation /significant hazards determination.
Exhibit B contains the current Prairie Island Technical Specification page marked up to show the proposed changes.
Exhibit C contains the revised Technical Specification page.
Please consider this License Amendment Request as a Cost Boneficial Licensing
-Action (CBLA) item in that these amendments may reduce NSP costs by more than
$100,000 over the life of the plant and deal with changes which improve plant safety or have low safety significance.
