57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, E-50 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on August 23, 1983 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR30.55 (e).
Replacement of annunciator panel light bulbs resulted in an electrical short circuit accompanied by a Class C fire in the annunciator window.
This event resulted from light bulb filament loose lead wires which saculd nava toen clipped as part of the manufacturing procs.es bat vore not clipped.
The corrective actions taken to ensdr+3 chis condition does not recur are:
- 1) alternate bulbs are being utilized; and 2) prior to issuance for installation each new bulb will be checked for the loose lead wire.
CG&E is continuing to evaluate this condition to determine its safety significances.
A follow-up report will be submitted by November 10, 1983.
