Update to Single Loop Request

References:

(A) Boston Edison letter of May 12, 1981: Revised Request for Tech-nical Specification Changes Concerning Single Loop Operation (B) Boston Edison letter of May 31, 1983: Proposed Change to Tech-nical Specification

Dear Sir:

In our May 31, 1983 (Reference B) letter, we proposed a change to extend the Load Line Limit for Pilgrim I. At that time we believed that this change would affect our previous request for Single Loop Operation (Reference A), and committed to supply any such effects in an update to the Single Loop request at the conclusion of a review.

Boston Edison has completed its review and has concluded that the Single Loop settings for APRM Flux Scram and APRM Rod Block are independent of the proposed new settings for two loop operation. Therefore, no revision to the single loop proposal (Reference A) is needed.

We believe this closes our commitment from Reference B. Should you wish further information on this issue, please contact us.

Very truly yours, PMK/ mat 1
