Dear Mr. Collins:
SUBJECT:
Waterford SES Unit No. 3 Docket No. 50-382 Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 141
" Deficient 4160V (GE) Switchgear Terminations" Final Report On December 22, 1983, a problem with deficient (GE) switchgear terminations was reported as Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 141. Further evaluation of the previously described condition indicates this condition is not considered reportable pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
EVALUATION Control wiring in the GE switchgear does generally employ pre-insulated ring tongue connectors. However, because of the terminals on the Knox fuse block, CE modified the pre-insulated lugs to accommodate the terminals and also used spade type lugs.
General Electric stated that various combinations of lugs used on the Knox fuse blocks were used in the prototype test program for seismic qualification.
Hence, the seismic qualification is valid.
Based on the above evaluation, this PRD is considered not reportable.
Very truly yours, M
T. F. Cerrets Corporate Quality Assurance Manager TFG:CNH:5STG 8402140319y40Og
