Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
This letter informs you of our intent to file a revised Control Room Design Review (CRDR) Program Plan for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Units 2 and 3, and requests an adjustment in the CRDR implementation schedules proposed in the referenced letter.
This adjustment is being requested so that we may improve the overall quality of the CRDR program for both the Peach Bottom Station and the Limerick Station, currently under construction, by utilizing the services of a Human Factors Engineering consultant firm with previous experience in performing a CRDR for another nuclear facility.
A revised program plan based on the plan submitted in the referenced April 15, 1983, letter is being developed by our consultant f or implementation at both the Limerick and Peach Bottom sites.
The revised CRDR program plan will be submitted by October 31, 1983.
A common program plan and sequential CRDR's will be performed in order to attain uniformity in the evaluation and corrections at both facilities.

Several months beyond completion of the consultants evaluation will be necessary to complete the licensee's review and finalize the report for submittal to the
- NRC.
. Accordingly, we propose' to submit a summary report.of the completed. review outlining proposed control room changes,
including their proposed schedules f or. implementation, by March 15, 1985, for the Peach Bottom Atomic-Power Station.

. Attachment II, page 3, of the April 15, 1983, submittal.

The human engineering review of the SPDS is integrated into the CRDR and was scheduled f or completion by January 1, L
1984, as stated in Attachment I, page 4, of the referenced April 15, 1983, letter.
Considering the proposed schedule revision for the CRDR, this review 'will be completed by Jnauary 1, 1985.
This amended schedule supersedes the proposed schedule presented in Attachment I, page 4, of the referenced letter.
Additionally, we wish 'to inform the staff that we plan to perf orm the design review of accident monitoring
' instrumentation, required.by Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737, in accordance with the revision 3 of Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.97, rather than revision 2 as stated in. the referenced April 15,

This. decision is consistent with the.NRC guidance provided in revision 3 of - R.G 1.97 which states that the new
- revision provides acceptable guidance for plant redesign in response to TMI-2 Action Plan (NUREG-0737).
