A-Pursuant to 10 C.F.R. Part 55.11 and 10 C.F.R. Part 55.61(a), LaSalle County Nuclear Station requests that Region III temporarily modify the Senior Reactor Operator License status of Mr.
Richard M. Shields, license number SOP-30982. Mr. Shields will be attending a Masters Degree program that he is scheduled to complete in June of 1996. Because of this additional obligation, between now and June,1996, Mr. Shields will be unable to meet the continuing l
training requirements to maintain his license. Specifically, he will be unable to attend license l
continuing simulator or classroom training or take required examinations. For these reasons, LaSalle Station requests that Mr. Shields' license be placed in a temporarily suspended status as, during this period, he will neither supervise or operate the controls of Unit 1 or Unit 2 LaSalle County Nuclear Station.

After completing his Masters Degree, LaSalle Station anticipates having Mr. Shields resume duties that include the direction and oversight of license operations personnel. Therefore, LaSalle Station expects Mr. Shields will attend an accelerated re-training program after he completes his cmtse of study. Once this re-training has been completed, LaSalle Station will then request the Region return Mr. Shields to normal license status.
