This letter is in response to NRC Generic Letter 84-01, dated January 5, 1984, on the use of the terms "Important to Safety" and " Safety Related". That letter designated you as the NRC's lead on this issue, and directed that anyone interested in meeting with the NRC to discuss this subject should contact you.
Baltimore Gas and Electric welcomes the opportunity to discuss this subject further. Our participation in this discussion will be through the Steering Committee and the Chairman of the Utility Safety Classification Group, which will represent us on this subject. We believe that this arrangement will be conducive to establishing the dialogue necessary for achieving resolution.
