SUBJECT:
Waterford SES Unit No. 3
~
Docket No. 50-382 Significant Construction Deficiency No. 82
". Bent Control Element Assembly Rods" Second Interim Report
REFERENCE:
LP&L Letter W3I83-0186 dated May 25, 1983
Dear Mr. Collins:
The above referenced letter indicated that further information would be submitted to the USNRC by August 16, 1983.
At the present time, sixteen CEAs have been returned to Combustion Engineering for evalu& tion.
Nine CEAs were determined to be out of specification. These CEAs were disassembled, the affected fingers were straightened and re-inspected, and the CEAs were re-assembled. The other seven were judged acceptable. Upon return of these CEAs, presently scheduled for September, Combustion Engineering will re-inspect all ninety-one as a final precaution against use of defective CEAs.
A final report will therefore be submitted to the USNRC by October 14, 1983.
Very truly ours,
}
