Gentlemen:

Alabama Power Company is making changes to the facility organization at the Farley Nuclear Plant involving replacing the present Chemistry and Health Physics Supervisor position with separate Health Physics Supervisor and Chemistry Supervisor positions. Also the present Training Superintendent position is being changed to Training Director.

These changes necessitate an amendment to the technical specifications to reflect the new organization chart and position titles.

The facility organization is identified in Technical Specification Figure 6.2-2. Attached are the proposed changes to the figure to reflect the new organization and to the titles listed in Technical Specification 6.3.

The Health Physics Supervisor and Chemistry Supervisor will report directly to the Technical Superintendent except that in matters of radiation policy determination, the Health Physics Supervisor may report directly to the Assistant Plant Manager. These changes will provide for more ef ficient utilization of plant supervisory personnel. The change

of the Training Superintendent position to Training Director is a title

! change only.

l l This proposed technical specification change is a supplement to l Alabama Pcwer Company letters dated February 1, 1983 and November 16, l 1982. The class of this proposed change is designated as Class II for Unit 1 and Class I for Unit 2 according to 10 CFR 170.22 requirements.

A check for $1,600.00 to cover the total amount of fees required was enclosed with the November 16, 1982 letter.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 The proposed change is administrative in nature such that it does not involve a significant hazards consideration, as defined in 10 CFR 50.92, and is consistent with item (i) of the " Examples of Amendments that are Considered Not Likely to Involve Significant Hazards Consideration" listed on page 14870 of the April 6,1983 issue of the Federal Register. The Plant Operations Review Committee has reviewed this proposed change. The Nuclear Operations Review Board will review this change at a future meeting.

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.30 (c)(1)(1), three signed originals and forty (40) additional copies of this proposed change are enclosed.
