This letter constitutes Commonwealth Edison's response to the " Order I nposing Civil Monetary Penaltics" dated June 27, 1983, served by yoJr letter of June 27, 198h Enclosed is our check for
$100,000 in l'all payment of the civil penalty imposed against Braidwood Station.
Although we are not convinced that the significance of the bolting problems at Byron and Braidwood rises to the magnitude of the fine levied, we nevertheless believe it is in the interest of -
all to remit the full per:alty.
Edison's commitment to quality in the construction and operation of Braidwood Station remalns firm and complete; any continued controversy in this matter at this time'will only detract from the overall perception of this commitment.
