Dear Mr. Denton:

The purpose of this letter is to provide the information discussed with Dr.

A.

Bournia and R. Kendal of FRR via telecon on December 14, 1983 with C.

W. Schroeder, et. al.

The P&ID M-146 Sheet 1 has been reduced but is legible enough to determine that each charging water pressure sensor has its own sensing line.

The AC pair are physically located on one side of the reactor whereas the BD pair are located on the opposite side of the reactor.

The RPS control i

channelization A A2 corresponds to the AC pair physically and the 1

B81 2 channelization corresponds to the BD pair physically.

Thus both physicel separation and electrical independence is established hemispherically outside the primary containment structures.

The electrical drawings indicate the general design layout of the RPS system (lE-2-4215AA), a schematic of the CRD charging j

. water low-pressure trip circuitry (1E-2-4207ZB) the pressure sensor circuitry (IE-2-4215AC), and the scram circuit with reset interlock (1E-2-4215AG).

This pcrtial drawing set covers the points discussed and provides confirmation of the conclusions reached.

Note that these drawings are informational.

The physical as-built drawings will be generated after completion of the installation which is in pr7gress at this time.

To the best of my knowledge and belief the statements contained herein and in the attachment are true and correct.

In some respects these statements are not based on my personal knowledge but upon information furnished by other Commonwealth Edison and 4

contractor employees.

Such information has been reviewed in accordance with Company practice and I believe it to be reliable.
