57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, E-30 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on October 27, 1982 under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
Our previous report, QA-2232, dated January 25, 1983, identified the corrective actions that are being implemented to resolve this item.
The status of each corrective action is discussed below, i
1.)
The Stop Work (82-05) issued on October 12, 1982, suspending the installation and termination of non-l essential and associated cables in Category I l
structures is still in effect.
This order will not be rescinded until items 2 and 3 below are complete.

2.)
Construction and inspection procedures for Cable Pulling, Raceway Installation and Cable Termination have been revised to include inspection criteria for electrical separation.
The procedure for cable termination is also being revised to identify the panels requiring inspection.
We anticipate that this procedure will be approved by July 29, 1983.
3.)
The contractor's construction personnel and QC inspectors will receive training on the construction and inspection procedures and the applicable design documents in accordance with the contractor's QA program.
CG&E's QA personnel will ensure compliance.

Procedure NEP-8.5, Rev. O for the review of electrical separation of cables in essential panels was prepared and approved.
The review was initiated on March 3, 1983.
However, the review was halted on May 27, 1983~ to allow procedure revisions and retraining of personnel involved in the walkdown to the revised procedures.
The walkdown was re-initiated on July 6, 1983.
We anticipate completion of this program by August 31, 1983.
A follow-up report will be submitted by September 30, 1983.
We trust the above will be found acceptable as an interim report under 10CFR50.55 (e).
