Investigation of this condition has determined that the design must be revised for Class 1E steam generator level measurements. The following design changes are being made:

1) Addition of one Class IE level transmitter per steam generator.

2) Rearrangement of the wide-range Class 1E level transmitters. 3) Addition of temperature monitoring on reference legs of two Class 1E level transmitters per steam generator.

Insulation of Class IE level transmitter reference Icgs.

Level transmitter installation design drawings have been issued for

. construction. In addition, Consumers Power Company is preparing a formal response.to NRC Question 031.54 and the associated IE Bulletin.

Consumers Power Company will provide another status report, interim or final, by April 20, 1984.
