Dear Mr. Stolz:
This is in response to a verbal request from your Mr. G. Vissing concerning the compensatory measures for TMI Lessons Learned Items II.F.1.1 and II.F.1.2 (Accident Monitoring for Noble Gas and Iodine /
Particulate). On December 21, 1983 (Serial 1014) Toledo Edison asked for an extension to the Order dated March 14, 1983 (Log No. 1245) confirming our commitment for scheduled completion on the accident monitoring for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1.
Mr. Vissing requested that we provide what additional compensatory measures we were taking in asking for the extension. Toledo Edison, at the time of the request for extension had one or13 aal stack monitor 1
operable with one new channel installed and being tested. The interim effluent monitors were and are operable in accordance with the Order of March 14, 1983. The capability for grab sampling is available with the appropriate procedutcs for sampling.
On Janunty 25, 1984 the first channel of the Kaman vont stack monitor was declared operable.
14ysical tie-in of the second channel is in progress and expected to be operational by March 31, 1984.
