MONITORING SITE RADIATION LEVEL BY TLD

1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 This precedurc describes the use of thermo-luminescent desi-meters, TLD, to determine the radicticn level at the site bcundary and at selected e.nvircnmental r.:cnitcring 1ccaticns.

NOTE: All permanently picced TLD's will be. changed cuarterly and the results used to supplement the envircreental rcycrt.

3.1 Envircnnental TLL's cre picced at the locations shcwn on attached maps cnd Tables I and II. Table III give 1ccations at which survey teams will place TLD's as given in procedures EC-323 cnd EC-324 as directed by the Emergency Cccrdinator.

32 Several TLD chips are included in each badge so that the dose fer varicus perioda of expcsure can be ccmpared.

3.3 The Leergency Coordinater may designate individuals tc collect TLD's as deemed necessary to evaluate the radiation doses to be environs. Dese after 4 hours4.62963e-5 days
0.00111 hours
6.613757e-6 weeks
1.522e-6 months
, 1 day and I week are significant.

3.4 TLD's badges er individual chips may be collected by the site survey teams during their surveys in the area of monitoring stations if directed by Emergency Coordinator or Health Physicist.

3.5 Individual chips shculd be placed in c labeled envelcpe for later identificaticn when read.

3.6 Procedure for reading TLD's is found in HP-1.C and HP-1.9 cr contact the duty HP.

3.7 Chips should be replaced as socn as practical so that mcnitoring can be centinued.

3.8 TLD's placed at effsite locations by survey teams will be collected and read as directed by the Emergency Ccordinator or Health Physicist.
