oisT. e Robert J. Bondi, oisT. 7 Joseph G. Ilickey, osr. a Kevin L Wright, oisi. s February 10, 1983 Nuclear Regulatory Commission 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Pennsylvania 19406 Gentlemen:
The Putnam County Legislature is concerned with the transportation of nuclear waste in and through our County.
As you might know, we are located very close to the Indian Point complex.
The Legislature has been discussing the possibility of passing a Local Law on the transportation of nuclear waste.
We have written to the New York State Police, the Department of Transportation and FEMA with reference to whether there are specific rules on who is to be notified when the transportation of nuclear waste passes from each of the Counties.
The Protective Services Committee of our Legiglature is meeting on the 17th of February.
I realize that this does not give you much time, but if you could possibly reply to this letter by then, it would be very much appreciated.
If you feel your procedure could best be explained by a representative of your commission, we would be more than happy to make time for you at your conveniencq to advise our Le ' -lators.
,4 y truly yours 7
