Dear Dr. Murley:
In March, 1981, ultrasonic (UT) examinations were conducted to assess the inteority of the jet numn hold-down beams at the mid-lenoth licament areas. bounding the beam bolt.
UT indications were found in the area of the hold-down bolt hole of jet oump beam No. 6 The results of further evaluation of beam No. 6 are contained in the attached recort, NEDC-30250, " Examination of a Cracked Jet Pumo Beam from Peach Bottom 3."
The recort categorizes the UT crack indication as intergranular caused by IGSCC.
The topical recort is classified as Class III Pronrietary by General Electric Company; however, General Electric has waived its dissemination restrictions on this document for release to the NRC.
