50-328 As requested by the NRC in the January 28, 1980 letter from Denwood F. Ross to me, TVA installed the NRC-sponsored computer online analyzer that was supplied by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in unit 1 of our Sequoyah Nuclear Plant in July 1980. TVA's understanding, and as stated in the letter from Mr. Ross, was that the online analyzer would be removed at the first refueling outage. A subsequent letter dated August 4, 1982 from Thomas M. Novak, NRC, to H. G. Parris requested the online analyzer to remain installed into unit 1, cycle 2 operation following startup. TVA has kept the online analyzer installed to date.
However, removal of the online analyzer is required because of the forth-coming installation of the technical support center equipment in the computer room. As previously stated to Carl Stahle of your staff in a telephone conversation, TVA plans to remove the ORNL online analyzer during the first part of March 1983 If you have any questions concerning this matter, please get in touch with i
