Pursuant to the NRC's Safety Evaluation Reports (SER's) for Farley Units 1 and 2 on Environmental Qualification of Safety-Related Electrical Equipment, we are providing notification that portions of the Technical Evaluation Report prepared by Franklin Research Center still require proprietary protection from public disclosure.

Alabama Power Company is reviewing the proprietary nature of the information j

identified in the associated Technical Evaluation Reports (TER's) with i

appropriate vendors.

The rationale and justification for proprietary l

protection available from the vendors is expected to be provided in l

accordance with the schedule requested by the SER's which is March 3,

(

1983.

The level of specificity necessary for continued protection will l

be consistent with the criteria in 10 CFR 2.970(b) of the Commission's i

regulations.

For those vendors that cannot provide the rationale and justification in accordance with the requested schedule of the SER's, Alabama Power Company respectfully requests the associated information be withheld from public disclosure until notified otherwise.
