Dear Mr. Collins:
SUBJECT:
Waterford SES Unit No. 3 Docket No. 50-382 Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 137
" Controlled Ventilation Area System (CVAS) Doors" Final Report On December 8, 1983, a problem with the Controlled Ventilation Area System (CVAS) Doors was reported as Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 137.
Further evaluation of the previously described condition indicates this condition is not considered reportable pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
Evaluation The reported deficiencies were discovered during planned inspections and tests, and did not involve inadequate or unapproved material, and the Control Room Leak Rate Test (SPO-46B-002) has subsequently been performed satisfactorily.
In this instance, there was no chance that the design basis would not be met because of the planned inspection and testing, prior to transferring the area from the construction organization, and the design itself proved adequate. For the foregoing reasons PRD No. 137 is not considered reportable.
Very truly yours, l
VV M
