NRC COMBINED INSPECTION 83-33 AND 83-33 SALEM GENERATING STATION NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 The. subject inspection conducted on October 5 to November 9, 1983, identified a violation regarding failure to submit a Licensee Event Report.

PSE&G's response to the violation is provided below.

ITEM OF VIOLATION.

Technical Specification 6.9.1.9.b requires a thirty day written licensee event report of conditions leading to operation in a degraded mode permitted by a limiting condition for operation (LCO).

Contrary to the above:

No written licensee event report was submitted within thirty days for operation with one of'two centrifugal charging pumps, required to be operable by LCO 3.5.2, inoperable as permitted by Action Statement 3.5.2.a from August 15-18, 1983.

. REPLY TO ITEM OF VIOLATION:

.The failure to submit an Incident Report was due to an oversight on the part of the Shif t Supervisor and is considered an isolated incident.
