Dear Dr. Weiss and Mr. Adams:
Enclosed is the MURR Independent Management Assessment Report produced by the Independent Safety Assessment Team (ISAT) that evaluated the safety climate at the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center. The ISAT also produced the the Safety Assessment Report that was sent to you on September 23,1994. The Management Assessment Report was referenced in the Safety Assessment document.
The ISAT members are Dr. Dale Klein, Associate Dean of Engineering at the University of Texas-Austin; Dr. Forrest Remick, Consultant; and, Dr. Gary Hughes, Callaway Nuclear, Union Electric Company.
Copies of the mangement report have been provided to all staff members of MURR and to higher University officials as was the case with the earlier safety report. We are taking steps to implement suggestions for more effective management that are contained in the report. These supplement our earlier and ongoing corrective actions to address the safety concern recommendations, including alleviating chilling efTects perceived by our staff.
