During a conference call on September 1,1994, the NRC staff requested that Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) provide a response indicating the status of commitments made in response to the subject bulletin and to address actions (with respect to item 1.f of the bulletin) to maintain a high degree of confidence for detecting transmitter failure due to loss of fill oil. The following is submitted in response to this request.
SNC has completed those commitments contained in the submittal dated February 11,1993 related to the subject bulletin.
In response to item 1.f of the subject bulletin, SNC stated that transmitters QlP17LT3027C and QlPl7LT3027D have normal operating pressures less than 500 psi. These transmitters do not require replacement and do not require monitoring using an enhanced surveillance monitoring program. It is SNC's intent to replace these two transmitters with transmitters inanufactured afler July 11,1989 by the end of the Unit I tenzeling outage scheduled for Fall 1995. Once these transmitters are replaced they will cx inue to be monitored under the normal surveillance / calibration program applicab.e a these transmitters.
