MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENEPATING PLANT PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket Nos. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 50-282 DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 This is in response to our meeting of September 21, 1983 with members of your staff and representatives of NRR regarding the Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) of Prairie Island and Monticello for the period July 1, 1982-June 30, 1983.
As always, this proved to be a very useful and enlightening meeting for us.
We believe that the SALP process is helpful in our efforts to achieve excellence in that it provides a wide-range review of how the various NRC professionals view all aspects of ot:r operations.
We naturally were pleased that many of the categories were evaluated as meriting reduced NRC attention in the upcoming period. However, perhaps of even more significance were our discussions regarding categories where we were rated as meriting nonnal attention.
By focusing on these areas and the factors which enter into the rating, we gained valuable insights into how we might improve our performance.
Again, I wish to assure you that our goal is excellence in all phases of our operation and that both the NRC and NSP share the common goal of seeing that we teach and maintain that level.
