20555 Ladies & Gentlemen:

Subject:

Hope Creek Generating Station (HCGS)

Docket No.50-354 -- Facility Operating License NPF-57 Request for a Cost Beneficial Licensing Action (CBLA) for the Revision to License Amendment Application LCR 88-05, " Permanent Hydrogen Water Chemistry System" On August 17, 1994, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) responded to the State of New Jersey's questions (Re:

7/8/94 NJ DEP letter to the NRC) on the aforementioned subject.

In responding to a

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE) question, PSE&G stated, in part, that "In the event of the most limiting site specific design basis station procedures have been revised to ensure the tube trailers would be removed off-site for this design basis flooding condition."

The BNE recommends that more specific information on existing or proposed procedures capable of accomplishing such a timely removal of the tube trailers off-site, be made available for NRC's review.

In addition, on August 18, 1994, the NRC made a Request for Additional Information (RAI) to PSE&G, containing six questions.

On October 24, 1994, via letter NLR-N94185, PSE&G submitted its response to NRC's questions.

The BNE routinely reviews the License Amendments Requests (LCas) submitted by licensees in accordance to the provisions of 10

{

CFR 50.91(b). The BNE reviewed said PSE&G response and has no comments.
