50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-327, 328/94 RECLhSSIFICATION OF DRAWINGS

Reference:

Letter from O.

J.

Zeringue to NRC dated September.14, 1994, "Segacyah Nuclear Plant - NRC Inspection Report Nos. 50-327, 328/93 Commitment Closure for Notice of Violation (NOV) 50-327, 328/93-14-01" This letter provides details concerning changes to the classification of drawing methodology as requested by the subjact inspection report.

In an effort to provide consistency between sites and to better establish priorities for drawing updates, a reclassification effort was initiated.

The drawing reclassification is based on the classification of the associated system (quality, nonquality, or historical) depicted on the drawings.

Previously, classification was based on the use of the drawing. The present classifications are as follows:

Category 1 drawings are control room drawings and remain unchanged.

Category 2 drawings are quality drawings that are maintained as-constructed.

Category 3 drawings are nonquality drawings that are maintained as-constructed.

Category 4 drawings are as-designed drawings, quality and nonquality, that are not maintained as-constructed.

Category 4 also includes historic and archived drawings.

As a result of the reclassification effort, many drawings that were not required to be updated will now be updated and maintained. The drawings that have been reclassified to Category 2 will be updated first, then the drawings reclassified as Category 3 will be updated. The completion of this effort will provide an improved drawing program that provides consistency in drawing categorization and type from site to site.
