4 ENCLOSURE 1 The Independent Safety Evaluation Group (ISEG) at the Beaver Valley Power Station conducted an investigation into the information and subject matter previously described by the NRC letter dated October 20, 1994.
Since some of the information provided by the NRC letter did not provide specific details or locations of the concern, ISEG conducted walkdowns of areas believed to be pertinent to assess these issues.
In response to the first issue, no violations of National Electric Code or National Fire Protection Association requirements were identified regarding the installation of 480 volt power cables.
One minor concern was identified with a 120 volt cord which was not in compliance with BVPS standards and was promptly corrected.
ISEG is continuing to follow-up on a related issue which was initiated during this evaluation regarding timeframes for temporary power cable installations.
In response to the second issue, the building's circuits appear to satisfy the National Electric Code and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulation with regard to ground-fault protection of personnel and equipment.
The machine being operated complies with appropriate OSHA requirements for similarly operated machines.
