Conference Call on Sept. 15,1994 between Comed (G.

Benes, J. Silady, et al.), NRR (R. Pulsifer, L. Phillips, et al.), and SPC (R. Copeland, et al.)

In anticipation of licensing actions that will be necessary to capport the transition of the LaSalle and Quad Cities reactors to fuel supplied by Siemens Power Corporation (SPC), the referenced conference call was initiated by Comed to provide your Staff with our licensing plans for the initial SPC reloads. During the call, Comed outlined which aspects of the transition are expected applications of 10CFR 50.59 and which will require license amendments under 10CFR 50.92. Both technical and schedular considerations of the licensing plan were discussed and the plan was viewed as reasonable. Additional omeussions with NRR (E. Kendrick, Reactor Systems) and Region lli (B. Burgess and F. Ehrhardt) were held as part of the recent team insp3ction of our Nuclear Fuel Services Department.

The tentative schedule that was discussed is attached for your information and resource planning purposes. As emphasized during the conference call, the dates shown are subject to change due to the Comed system-wide outage scheduling requirements. The company's Overhaul Scheduling Committee is currently evaluating a number of chan, ges, for example, as a result of the extended outages at Dresden and Quad Cities. Although these changes will result in even more time for completion of the fuel transition licensing activities, we will provido periodic updates to the attached schedule to keep your Staff informed.

Sincerely, GyGSew Gary G. Benes Nuclear Licensing Administrator Attachment cc:
