Update on Statue of Alloy 600 TT Steam Generator Mechanical Tube Plug Replacement NRC Docket Nos. 50-454. 50-455. 50-456 and 50-457
Reference:
December 22,1994 NRC Meeting In response to a recent failure of an Alloy 600 TT steam generator mechanical tube plug at another facility, the Reference meeting was held. The purpose of the meeting was to addr5ss the impact of the recent tube plug failure on the ongoing j
efforts to address the issue of tube plug corrosion. The plug failure indicated a need to revise the algorithm used to calculate the useful life of Alloy 600 TT tube plugs.

In response to an NRC request at the Reference meeting, Commonwealth Edison (Comed)is submitting the status of this issue for the Byron and Braidwood Stations. All Aloy 600 TI' mechanical steam generator tube plugs have been i
replaced in all four units. Comed's action in regard to this issue as it relates to Byron and Braidwood is complete.
