LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (Per Telecons dated January 18 and 20,1995)

OPERATING LICENSE CHANGE REQUEST NO. 93-24-0 Ouestion 1:

Is there an increase in the fuel burnup due to power rerate at LGS?  ;

1 Resoor'se 1:

Power rerate is expected to result in an increase in fuel burnup. However, the fuel burnup will remain within the licensed burnup limits of the fuel designs in operation. i Furthermore, an assessment was performed by the NRC (Environmental Effects of l Transportation Resulting From Extended Fuel Enrichment and Irradiation), which  !

concluded that the environmental impacts summarized in Table S-4 of 10 CFR 51.52 i for a burnup level of 33 GWD/MT are conservative, and bound the corresponding )

impacts for burnup levels up to 60 GWD/MT and uranium enrichments up to 5 percent by weight. Fuel enrichment and burnup at LGS will continue to be below these limits.

Question _2:

. What is the impact of power rerate on cooling drift iug?

Response 2:

There will be no impact on cooling drift fog due to power rerate at LGS; therefore, there will be no environmental effects.
