NOTIFICATION OF SNUBBER SAMPLE PLANS REFUELING OUTAGE FUNCTIONAL TEST PROGRAM CALLAWAY PLANT UNIT-1 Ref.: ' 1) NUREG-1058, Rev,1; Technical Specifications Callaway Plant, Unit.1, Section 4.7.8

2) ULNRC - 1162 The referenced Technical Specification identifies the sample plans _which are available to the licensee for the functional testing of plant snubbers. Per the Tech Spec, a representative sample ofeach snubber type will be tested during the first refueling shutdown and at least once per 18 months thereafter during shutdown. Beginning in -

Refuel 7, Spring 1995, Union Electric will be implementing the requirements of the functional test program as set forth below.

The installed safety related mechanical snubbers (808) manufactured by Pacific Scientific will be tested using Plan 2 (37 Plan) as previously submitted per ULNRC -

1162. An initial sample of 37 snubbers will be functionally tested and evaluated against i

the acceptance criteria. The results of each day's testing will be plotted on Figure 4.7-1 until the point plotted at the end of the day falls in the " Accept" or " Reject" region,-

or all snubbers have been tested.

l I

The sixteen (16) Steam Generator hydraulic snubbers will be converted to limit stop.

components per Plant Modification CMP 94-1001 during Refuel 7. As there will be no installed hydraulic type snubbers for the operating cycles subsequent to Refuel 7,' they will be deleted from the test plan and will not be tested during Refuel 7 shutdown.
