20555 Attention:
Mr.
D.
G. Eisenhut, Director Divisica of Licensing Gentlemen:
DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 REQUEST FOR TIME EXTENSION ON RESPONSE TO SECTION 2.2.2 OF NRC GENERIC LETTER 83-28 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 This letter requests an extension of time for responding to Section 2.2.2 of Generic Letter 83-28, " Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events", dated July 8, 1983 for Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.
We are a member of a Nuclear Utility Task Action Committee (NUTAC) formed on September 1, 1983 for the specific purpose of defining an appropriate vendor interface program.
In view of our continuing participation in the SEE-IN and NPRDS programs, we believe that a time extension will have no impact on public health and safety.
While participating in the NUTAC, we will concurrently evaluate, in more detail, our plant's(s') existing capabilities for interfacing with our vendors.
After completion of the NUTAC's efforts, we will submit our program description to the NRC by February 29, 1984.
Very truly yours, dw ay Vice Pre ident-Nuclear Power C. W. Fay Copy to NRC Resident Inspector 8309160295 030907 L
