proposed change to Technical Specification Bases 3/4.4.9, Pressure / Temperature Limits.
It is requested that the NRC issue this change to satisfy Unresolved Item 90-20-01 identified by the NRC Resident
...spector.
The inspector identified the lack of specificity in the Technical Specifications regarding pressure / temperature limits applicable to isolated reactor coolant I
loops.
Therefore, the attached Westinghouse report " Development of Pressure-Temperature Limit Curves for a
Loop Isolated from tho Reactor Vessel:
Beaver Valley Units 1
and 2" was developed to provide recommended limits for an isolated loop.
The Bases change includes a
new Figure B 3/4 4-3 " Isolated Loop Pressure-Temperature Limit Curves" and a paragraph added to Bases 3/4.4.9 to describe the basis for the curve.
This proposed change has been discussed with our NRC Resident Inspector and is submitted for final resolution of the Unresolved Item.
The Bases are not part of the Technical Specifications in accordance with 10 CFR 50.36; theretore, a no signifIcant hazard evaluation has not been developed for this change.
This change was reviewed by our Onsite Safety Committee and was determined to be safo j
based on the Westinghouse report.
