00HANCHE PflAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES) UNIT 2 DOCKET NU. 50%4t,6 LlHli SWITCH WIRING SDAR CP-87-16 (SUPPLEMENTAL REPORf)

Gentlemen: ,

On June 1, 1987 TV Electric orally notified the NRC of a deficiency involving installation vt safety related valve limit switches: specifically, cat';es/ conduits were routed to the wrong limit switches and ca'les u were terminated to the wrong contacts in the linit switches. The last report was logged TXX 88156, dated January 29, 1988, this letter describes and justifies differeness between the corrective actions taken for Unit 1 and thore that will be taken for Unit 2.

The following Unit 1 actions, which involved performance of field Verification Method FVH CS-089. are summarized from TXX'80156:

1. Conduct an as built verification of the current limit switch configurattins against validated electrical schematic diagrams,
7. Assign unique tag numbers to all limit switches,
3. Revise drawings as necessary to include limit switch tag numbers and terminal assignments, 4, Record the litit switch location (on the valve), model number. ,

and tag number on addit.ional drawings, and

5. Revise the cable schedules to show limit switch tag numbers as cable destinations.

Items 2, 3, and S above will be performed on Unit 2. Howevec, the as built verifiedtion against validated ochematics and the perfermance of a procedure like TVN CS 089 will not be necessary on Unit 2 because:

1. Safety related limit switches in Unit 2 are being replaced, and 9108120190 910803

2. The limit switches will be termineted and inspected by Ouality Control in accordance with new Unit 2 electrical schematic diagrams developed and verified from the final Unit I diagrams.

i

> With regard to item 4 above, the design change documents which replace the  !

safety related limit switches will be written against the control valve vendor l drawings and will include the required limit switch location on the valve, the  ;

model numbet, and the tag number.

These Unit 2 corrective actions will be completed prior to fuel load.
