1 ENVIRONS DIRECTOR IMPLEMEATING PROCEDURE i

A. PURPOSE The purpose of this procedure is to describe actions of tre Environs Director for initiation of the environmental

. monitoring efforts and coordination of Envirens Group activities.

B. REFERENCES

C. PRERECUISITES 1, The Environs Group, under the supervisico of the Environs Director, will consist of qualified individuals from Commonwealth Edison anc contractors ces:gnated to assist the group. Typically, outside contractors will consist of the Radiological Monitoring Contractor, the Meteorological Monitoring Contractor and other Special Environmental Contractor personnel.

1. In the event that radiation levels at or Deyond the site boundary are suspected to oe significant, l personnel performing radiation surveys will require dosimetry such as film badges and pocket dosimeters to ascertain their accumulated radiation exposure.

I l' E. LIMITATIONS ANQ_A(TIONS

1. At the discretion of the Station Directcr, tne l} Environs Group may be activated during GSEP conditions involving a hazaroous material (including radiological) accident suspected of affecting areas outside of l the plant facility.

ATTACHMENT A GSEP ENVIRONS DIRECTOR ACTIONS (Cnecklist of Initial Responsiollities) su This checklist is proviced solel f f or tra convenience of the Envircns Director. 1. It *ne Emergency Operations Facility (EOF) is nct to na act;vataa anc if Environs Teams are not required, assist the Rad./Cnam. Dirt'ctor.
2. If EOF activction is requirea for a non-radiclogical B event, relocate to the EOF and activate communications anc computer equipment. Take additional team memoers as necessary.

3. If EOF activation is required for a radiological event, perform the following:
a. Request the Station Director to contact an Environs Director from Dresden Station or Braidwcoa Station and instruct him to activate the EOF.

CAUTION Forewarn personnel dispatched about the Security l Alarm System at the EOF. The EOF key must be used

to turn of f the alarm within tni rty seconds of entering the door.
b. Request the Station Director to dispatch additional personnel if available to assist the EOF Environs Director.

4. Request the Station Director to establish a team in tne i Technical Support Center (TSC) to assist in environs team

a. Assign an individual to the Generating Station Emergency Plan (GSEP) radio as communicator (preferaDly not a Rad./ Chem. type person).

D. Assign an individual to the Off-Site Oose Calculation System (00CS) Computer Terminal to act as terminal operator (preferably a Health Physics type person).

a. Verity that the maps and/or photographs necessary to hold the Oriefing are displayed.
