Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No.1 Docket No. 50-244

Dear Mr. Smith:

This letter responds to several open items from NRC Emergency Pre-paredness Appraisal 50-244/81-22 which was transmitted to us by letter I

dated May 20, 1982.

Enclosed is a copy of Nuclear Production Administrative Procedure

  1. 4, titled " Functions and Duties of Corporate Emergency Planner." This procedure completes our actions on Items A-1, B-1 and B-2 of your inspection and our response as outlined in my letter to you of June 30, 1982.

Due to manpower limitations, Item A-9 "A study on the transfer, sampling, storage and analysis of highly radioactive liquid waste" was not completed by March 30, 1983 as committed in our June 30, 1982 letter.

This study will be completed by December 30, 1983.

Evaluation of an alternate evacuation assembly area, Item A-20, is continuing and will be ccmpleted by September 30, 1983.

In response to Item B-3, a constant air monitor has been ordered for placement in the control room. This will complete this item since com-pletion of control room ven'.11ation modification is not necessary to resolve this item. This unit will be in place and operational by June 30, 1983.

Item B-G, Post Accident Sampling System should be operational by June 30,1983 or three weeks after achieving criticality following the Spring 1983 Refueling Outage, whichever is later, in accordance with NRC confirm-atory order of March 14, 1983.
