57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, M-13 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on August 10, 1979 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e).
Since our last report, LOZ-83-0008, dated March 24, 1983, all repaired equipment has been returned from the manufacturer and receipt inspection has been performed by Operations Quality Assurance.
By letter, EAB-SOL-ll, dated January 7, 1983, CG&E requested the NRC's concurrence'in the performance of certain work activities which were believed to be allowed under the NRC November 12, 1982. " Order to Show cause and O'rder Immediately Suspending Construction".
One of those requests was to perform Service Water Pump modifications.
The NRC letter in response dated May 6,1983, Item A (8) (a), concurred that the Service Water System modifications are not construction activities suspended by the NRC order.
The H. J. Kaiser Company has been requested to perform the reinstallation, the piping and electrical interfaces, and the rotational alignment for the remaining refurbished pump.
The anticipated completion of Service Water Pump modification items is January 1984.
A follow-up report will be submitted by February 15, 1984.
