SECURITY UPGRADE PROJECT STATUS REPORT REGULATORY EFFECTIVENESS REVIEW HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION DOCKET NUMBER 50-354 is forwarded to report progress on current work and to define the remaining scope on PSE&G's Nuclear Security Program Upgrade Project in response to the findings of the Regulatory Effectiveness Review (RER), provided in the NRC's RER Report (TAC No. 72711).

Details of changes concerning the project were discussed with the NRC Region I Safeguards Section Chief and the involved Region I Safeguards Inspector during a recent Security Inspection, conducted the week of April 1-5, 1991.

This letter supplements our previous RER-related correspondence:

NLR-NR9111 dated June 14, 1989, NLR-N90014 dated January 26, 1990, NLR-N 9 017 7, dated September 4, 1990, and NLR-N91013, dated January 24, 1991.

The attachment to this letter contains SAFEGUARDS INFORMATION which must be protected from public disclosure in accordance with 10 CFR 73.21.
