l' July 1, 1983 Mr. John T. Collins Regional Administrator x-U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission

{ @hhhh Region IV' 611 Ryan Plaza Drive JUL - 51983 lh Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76011

Dear Mr. Collins:

Subject:

Organizational Structure for the Nuclear Power Group.

In accordance with a commitment made by the writer at a meeting held at the District's General Office on May 3,1983 between members of the District's management staff and Mr. Paul Check and several NRC staff members, we would like to submit the attached organizational charts depicting the reorganized senior staff levels of the recently created Nuclear Power Group.

Although the District had been giving consideration to this change for some time, the immediate reorganization was precipitated as a result of recom-mendations made by LRS Inc. as identified in their " Nuclear Management Appraisal Report" dated April 1983.

We would like to point out that the District fully concurs with the recommen-dation and is of the belief that the redefined organization, as identified in the enclosures, will provide significant added assurance that previously identified management deficiencies have been corrected. Further, we would like to indicate that we believe this action illustrates the District's overall philosophy of operation which is to operate Cooper Nuclear Station in the safest and most efficient manner possible.

We are continuing in our efforts to select the most qualified individuals possible with which to staff the key positions identified in the attached organization charts and will continue to keep your office informed in this regard.

Should you have any questions or comments relative to the planned organiza-tional structure, please advise me, y

Very truly yours,

- Crua.
