Dear Sir:
This report is submitted in accordance with LaSalle Unit 1 Operating License NPF-11, Appendix B, Technical Specifications 3.7.5.1 and 6.6.c.
On June 19,1983 at 0408, while OA Diesel Fire Pump (DFP) was running, because of frequent Auto start signal on low pressure, the OA DFP trouble light was received in the control room. When the OA DFP trouble light was investigated, the OA DFP was found to have a broken V-belt which stopped the engine cooling water flow and the engine over heated. As a resul t, the OA DFP was declared i nope rab l e.
The 08 DFP and service water back-up were operable at all times to supply the fi re protection system i f needed.
Operability was restored to the 0A DFP on June 29, 1983 at 2300 0A DFP was test run in accordance with LOS-FP-A2 and LOS-FP-W2 before operability was declared.
