Subject:

Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-29 Core Operating Limits Report Submittal (Cycle 7),

Revision 2 GNRO- 94 /00134 Gentlemen:

Entergy Operations, Inc., is submitting for your use and information Revision 2 of the Core Operating Limits Report (COLR) for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS). This report incorporates cycle specific information for GGNS Cycle 7 operation and is submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.11.1.

This revision to the GGNS COLR was made to include references to Seimens Power Corporation (SPC) letters GEXI-94/00448 and GEXI-94/00449. These letters document the calculation performed by SPC to revise the 9x9-5 peak pellet exposure and the peak rod exposure, to ensure the basis for the LHGR limits specified in the COLR remain valid for the SPC 9x9-5 fuel.

This revision was part of the corrective actions associated with a condition discovered by SPC when verifying compliance with exposure limits during the Cycle 8 design process. During this verification, Seimens design engineers discovered a condition by which some GGNS fuel assemblies could exceed their calculated peak pellet exposure prior to the end of the current cycle (Cycle 7).

Entergy Operations, Inc. has worked closely with SPC in evaluating the safety implications of this condition on Cycle 7 operation and identified several corrective 9411220258 941110 PDR ADOCK 05000416 \

Having completed all corrective actions, Entergy Operations, Inc. has concluded that operation through Cycle 7 will not result in any fuel exceeding its analyzed exposure limit.
