III. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION I A. Public Address Description Provides In-plant communication and emergency alarm. Powered by Instrument Bus. Five channels:

. Channel 1 - reserved for Operations personnel.

i . Channel 2 - Open

. Channel 3 - Open

. Channels 4 & 5 - reserved for communications between emergency centers during emergencies.

D. MICROWAVE TELEPHONE Descriotion Provides direct communication between CCNPP and System Operator (Load Dispatcher) via BG&E owned microwave system.

Location Control Room-SCRO desk.

Switchyard Control House.

Use Lift receiver to contact System Operator.

ALL - Call feature - SCRO's desk microwave phone emits beeping sound and red light flashes; lift receiver, push both buttons to acknowledge call.

E. RADIO TELEPHONE Description .

VHF radio system consists of base stations, control units, mobile / portable units.

Provides communications between radiological monitoring teams and

, emergency centers.

Pre vides auxillary communications with State, County and BG&E emergency facilities.

Provides pager recall for certain CCNPP personnel.. l l

Location Plant: Control Room, ECC, Alternate ECC, Central Alarm Station (CAS),

Secondary Alarm Station (SAS), several plant vehicles.  ;

G. LNG -(COVE PO!NT)- HOT LINE Descriotion Allows Cove Point Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) terminal to notify CCNPP Control Room of LNG related problems.

Location Control Room (SCRO desk.)

Use Lift receiver when light on phone illuminates. Monitor message.

H. NRC HOT LINES Descriotion .

Provides CCNPP and on-site NRC personnel direct communications with NRC. Consists of two dedicated telephone systems:

R?!? .1 Rev.3 ATTACHMENT 2 RADIO HEADSET USE*

1. Remove headset from blue vinyl case.
2. Select ear piece. Attach to headset (ear pieces located in vinyl case with headset.)
3. Plug headset into receotacle under table ledge and don headpiece.
4. Adjust headset receptacle volume switch to comfortable level.

- NOTE -

Accomplished this while listening to radio transmissions or background noise. Radio control unit volume does not qiiect headset.

5. Transmit by depressing foot pedal (has wire attached to it). Red " transmit" light on console will llluminate when transmitting.

- NOTE -

Handset cannot be used for transmitting when headset is utilized.

  • Control unit in Control Room not equipped for headset.

l. Select channel 3, clear mode, on radio control unit.
2. Turn encoder pow ~er switch to AC (located on rear of encoder).
3. Enter two digit radio code. (Codes in ERP!P Appendix A.1, Page 2)
4. Push "P" button on encoder,
5. When " talk" light 111uminates, give message (if any) by depressing radio hand set button and speaking Into receiver.
6. Press and hold "T" button for messages longer than 10 seconds.
