Dear Sir; l",*"~~"",7 { 1 g

-d I, Ralph F. Walker, 1518 Fifth St..New Brighton, Pe. 15066-Telephone (412) 846-6135, wish to interevene in the licensing process of Beaver 411ey 2 nuclear power plant at Shippingport, Pa. 16077.
I am a retired senior citizen.
Beaver Valley Unit 1 Nuclear Power Station at Shippingport, Pa. 15077 went on line Ray 1977 at an estimated life of 30 years. It will be ready to dismantle in 2007 or 2008. Its production of electricity can be found in the so-called " Grey Book".
The total costs of B.V. Unit 1 are passed on to electric consumers.
This includes extra costs not epplicable to coal fired generating plants.
B.V. Unit 1 poses a constant threat to the health and safety of parts of Western Pa., Ohio, and West Virginia. Also spent fuel rods are stored, under water, on this site.
i
'Ibe high cost of electricity in this erea tends to discourage business and industry from locating here and continuing to operate here. Also this high cost is a serious problem to low and certain fixed income customers.
In the early years of the Elst century, maybe the burden of B.V. Unit l' on this area can be removed.
I urge you to never license B.V. Unit 2 as a Nuclear Power Plant but instead to alter the design so as to make it into a coal fired vacility.
Please include Exhibits 1-2-3-4 as part of this petition.
Yours very truly, b
