Correction of Administrative Errors in License Amendments

Dear Mr. Jaife,

In accordance with our conversation during your visit to Calvert Cliffs on August 8, we request a correction to Technical Specification 3.6.1.7, action statement b.

Presently, this action statement requires action only with one supply valve inoperable due to high leakage. In your safety evaluation report for License Amendments 65 and 47 (Units 1 and 2, respectively) dated February 1,1982, page 2, (last paragraph) you discussed purge isolation valves in reference to this action statement. We believe the statement should say "with one containment purge supply and/or one exhaust isolation valve inoperable due to high leakage, repair the valve (s) within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> or be in cold shutdown within the following 30 hours3.472222e-4 days <br />0.00833 hours <br />4.960317e-5 weeks <br />1.1415e-5 months <br />".

In addition, we are forwarding a change to the Technical Specification Bases for Combustible Gas Control, B 3/4.6.5.

The proposed change was submitted under a Request for Amendment Letter dated February 24,1983. In that submittal, we requested that the bases be revised by adding the sentence: "The detection equipment has been upgraded to meet the requirements of NUREG 0737, which included a detection range of 0 to 10 percent hydrogen". Apparently, due to an oversight, it was omitted from License Amendments 83 and 66 for Units 1 and 2, respectively.

We understand you will issue these changes with the next license amendment.

Sincerely, E

John E. Thorp (/
