ENCLOSURE (1)

REPLY TO APPENDIX A OF NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-317/83-03 50-318/83-03 As a result of reviews by our staff regarding the requirements of 10 CFR 59, Appendix B, Criterion VI and the item of apparent noncompliance referenced in the Inspection Report, the following actions have either been performed or are proposed:

Action Item No.1 Effective April 11, 1983, the reproducing capability of the aperture card reader printers was disabled. Aperture card sets and reader printers currently remain in their previous lccations; however, reader printers are now incapable of producing prints from the aperture cards.

Action Item No. 2 Effective March 16, 1983, distribution lists contained in CCI-141, " Distribution of Off-Site Originated Manuals / Procedures," which reflect distribution of such manuals as Quality Assurance, Q-List, and FSAR, have been changed to specify that such lists are for information only. Actual distribution lists remain under the control (as in past practice) of the Technical Librarian.

Action Item No. 3 Effective as of the date of this response, the foreign print log has been revised and is currently in use in the Print Room.

This revised form replaces an outdated form identified in the subject Inspection Report.

Proposed Action item No. 4 A new Quality Assurance Procedure (QAP) will be issued that specifically addresses the areas of (1) timely annotation and distribution of critical drawings and, (2) control of aperture cards. The approval and distribution of this QAP is scheduled to occur prior to June 1,1983.
