Gentlemen:

In light of the diesel generator situation, LILCO now believes that, at best, fuel load can occur at some point dur-ing the first quarter of 1984.

The Company today notified the NRC Staff that prelimi-nary indications have been found of a possibles fault on the crankshaft of a second diesel.

Further detai?.s, if any are available, will be provided the Board in LILCC's August 25th status report.
