B&W Owner's Group Followup to Salem RRG Meeting This letter updates earlier discussions between the B&WOG and NRC Staff regarding our intentions to install a shunt trip feature to the reactor trip system scram breakers.
The B&WOG has condacted a preliminary review of the AN0-1 siiunt trio design and endorse that design approach. The member utilities will communicate their intent with regard to implementing the shunt trip in a manner consis-tent with their plant specific features following NRC Staff review and approval of the ANO-1 design.
Implementation schedules will be included in submittals by the member utilities utilizing this reference, lead plant design.
Arkansas Power and Light will be formally submitting, during the week of May 30, 1983, design information and appropriate supplemental qualification information requested by the Staff in its earlier review.
The B&W0G is willing to meet with the Staff, if necessary, following your review of the ANO-1 design to facilitate resolution of any questions that may remain.
