Dear Sir:
We seem to developed a slight problem between the workers at Enrico Fermi Atomic Power Plant and The Detroit Edison Company. The Detroit Edison Company is requiring all of the operators who are on the fire brigade to under go yearly physicals. Included in this physical is a chest X-ray.
WhenweaskwhyachestX-rayisrequiredeveryyear,eventhouhha persons lungs are clear, the company reply is always "NRC requirments".
They also tell us that if we do not get an X-ray we can not work at Fermi.
Our question is, are yearly chest X-rays required by law.
What about female workers? We think that yearly chest X-rays could lead to cancer over a long period of time.
Does the X-ray person have to tell us what the dose is ? When we ask, they keep telling us that they do not know what the radiation level is.
Any information you could share with us on this subject will be appricated.
Sincerely, 0
