SUMMARY

OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROGRAM RESPECTING CONSTRUCTION OF GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION (GGNS) UNIT 2 FOR SIX HONTilS ENDING JUNE 30, 1991 Const.ruction liighlights A rectuest to terminate the Unit 2 Const ruct ion Permit was submitted to the NRC December 27, 199n by Entergy Operations.

The Grnnd Gulf 2 site hns been stabilized in accordance wit h all Const ruction Permit and UFSAR re<piirements. This includes the backfill of Grand Gulf 2 excnyntion site and the reseeding and turnover of formerly used constructlou sites to Grand Gulf I operations. Grnnd Gulf 1 operations has assumed responsibility for maint.cnnnce nnd upkeep of the entire site.

Final reclamation nnd restornt ton of the Grnnd Gulf Nucicar Station site will be addressed upon the decommissioning of Grntul Gul f 1.

Vehicular Movumont No "of f limit" vloint lons were observed during the teporting period.

Dust Control No dust u ntrol vlointions were observed during the reporting period.

Smoke Control No smoke violations ocrurred during the reporting period.

The GGNS 11 urn Pit, which was officially closed on Februnty 22, 1990, was filled with dirt during t he week of June 11, 1990 thus prohibiting any future use.

Erosion Control Rainfall was recorded on % occasions during t he reporting period, with an accumulat ed total of 44.07 inches.

Chemical & Solid Waste Control No violations or improprieties of Mississippi wnste disposal regulations occurred during the reporting porlod.

Noise Control No excessive noise levels were detected during the reporting period.

Regional Groundwater Wells The twelvo regional groundwater wells were read 13 timos during the reporting period with no problems encountered.

Vegetation Survey No vegetational abnormalities worn obantved during the reporting period.

Trensmission Lines Trnimmission lino surveys worn sinspended in 1988 basnd on the stabilization of soil and vegetation observed along those lines during previous surveys.
